Just downloaded and installed War Inc. Battlezone yesterday and I can safely say that downloading War Inc. Battlezone was probably the fastest 1 GB download I’ve ever experienced on my crappy SmartBro internet connection. 1 GB downloads usually takes me an entire day to finish but War Inc. Battlezone finished downloading itself in just a few hours.

War Inc. Battlezone Open Beta

War Inc. Battlezone is a new Free-To-Play MMO shooter from an independent game developer, Online Warmonger. It’s currently in Open Beta so anyone and everyone can download and play the game specially those who are into modern warfare style shooting games. Of course, you need to sign-up for an account first at the official website of War Inc. Battlezone. Signing-up for a new account will take you only a few minutes.

As a new player of War Inc. Battlezone, I was given 5,000 GD (Gold Dollars) to get me going in-game. I can use it to buy better items but I choose not to spend it and save it for later. Gold Dollars (GD) is the name of the currency awarded to players in-game while Game Points (GP) is the name of the currency used to buy special items and can only be acquired by purchasing it with real money.

Again, since this is a Free-To-Play game, you don’t have to spend anything to play the game. I haven’t gone through all the items sold for money but I don’t think there will be anything there that will totally break the game in favor of real money spenders. Of course, if you like War Inc. Battlezone then spending some money on items and packages is a good way to support the families of the people developing the game.

The screenshot below shows how to earn Gold Dollars in War Inc. Battlezone.

Once you are in-game, you will be able to create your character by choosing its starting weapons (primary and secondary) and gears (head, body and armor). After that, you will be asked to assign choose your first skill by assigning a skill point to learn it. Next, you will be asked to select one ability. If you would like to get more abilities then you can do so by purchasing more from the in-game store.

New players will also get a one time special offer that will greatly increase their chances on the War Inc. Battlezone battlefield. These one time special offer will let them choose from three very special packages that contains everything they will need to survive longer than anyone else in War Inc. Battlezone. The available packages are:

War Inc. Battlezone, One Time Special Offer Packages

After the one time special offer screen, it’s game time. War Inc. Battlezone works like most casual MMO games. The game is played by joining one of the many on-going games or you can always create a new one and wait for players to come in. Each of the games I’ve seen can accommodate upto 32 players. If you are browsing for a game to join then you will be able to see the following information on each game; servername, ping, number of players, map name and game mode.

Ping is very important. Never ever join a game with a very high ping. It’ll be a nightmare because it will be like playing inside the Twilight Zone. So, always join a game with a very low ping because the game will be smoother and you might even get a few kills yourself.

In the battlefield, the control is very much like that of Counter-Strike. You move with the ASWD keys and you look around with your mouse. Pressing and holding the Shift Key while moving forward will make your character run and holding the CTRL Key will make him crouch. To shoot, simply click on your LMB (Left-Mouse Button) and to zoom-in and out, simply click and hold your RMB (Right-Mouse Button).

Switching your weapons is done by pressing the number keys above your keyboard. Reloading is done by pressing the letter R and jumping is done by pressing the Spacebar. To pick-up weapons on the ground, simply press the letter E on your keyboard. For more info on how to control your character, you can view and change it in the Option screen in-game.

War Inc. Battlezone is a fun game simply because I enjoyed playing it. My only concern about War Inc. Battlezone is its high GPU usage. I know it’s a graphics intensive game but Age of Conan Unchained and APB Reloaded are also very graphics intensive games yet my GPU stays below the 60°C temperature. In War Inc. Battlezone, my GPU Temp goes above it.
