Making a Realistic Skyrim AI Video for Free (Kabalyero in Skyrim)

A few days ago, I started tinkering with AI video generation after stumbling upon a short tutorial about it. The tutorial was as simple as anyone could make it, but somehow, it still felt pretty complicated to me. 😂

You know that feeling when someone explains something and makes it look super easy, only for you to try it yourself and wonder if you accidentally skipped ten steps? Yeah, that was me!

So, instead of following the tutorial step by step, I decided to take the basic idea behind it and do my own thing. After all, sometimes the best way to learn something new is to just jump in, press a few buttons, and hope nothing explodes. Thankfully, nothing exploded. Well, not yet!

My Free AI Video-Making Adventure

For this little experiment, I used two AI platforms: Free ChatGPT and Free Google Flow.

I used ChatGPT to help me develop the story, organize the scenes, and write the prompts. Meanwhile, Google Flow did the heavy lifting by turning those prompts into actual videos.

Before making anything, I spent some time exploring Google Flow and figuring out how it worked. I quickly learned that, as a free user, I only had 50 credits per day to play with. On top of that, using the least powerful video generator, Omni, meant that my generated videos could only be six seconds long.

Six seconds. That's barely enough time to say hello, trip over your own feet, and apologize to the floor!

I also figured out how to create characters in Google Flow, which was important because I had someone in mind for this little adventure: my character, Kabalyero.

Letting ChatGPT Do Some of the Thinking

Once I had a better understanding of Google Flow's limitations, I went back to ChatGPT and explained what I wanted to create.

I asked it to develop a story based on my idea, keeping Google Flow's six-second video limit in mind. ChatGPT then broke the story down into individual scenes or clips, making sure each one could fit within that tiny window of time.

This was pretty helpful because I didn't have to figure out the entire story structure by myself. Instead, I could focus on experimenting with the prompts and seeing what Google Flow could do.

Of course, having AI write the prompts doesn't guarantee that everything will turn out exactly as planned. But hey, that's part of the fun! Sometimes, you get something cool, and sometimes, you get something that makes you scratch your head.

Bro Just Fell Out of Nowhere | Kabalyero in Skyrim

After getting the prompts from ChatGPT, I copied and pasted them into Google Flow, added the necessary character or scene ingredients, and generated my first video.

And guess what? I was actually happy with the result!

In the first six-second clip, Kabalyero falls out of a portal in the sky and lands face-first on the ground.

And that's it. Six seconds of adventure, followed by an extremely unfortunate meeting with the ground. Poor Kabalyero!

What's Next?

I had a lot of fun making this first video, and I'm thinking about continuing Kabalyero's story. I know six seconds isn't much time to tell a story, but that's what I have to work with for now.

I'm doing this entirely with free tools because, well, my budget for AI video generation is currently a grand total of zero. 😂 So, I'll have to make those daily credits count!

Anyway, this is just my first attempt at creating AI videos, and I'm excited to see where this little experiment takes me. Hopefully, Kabalyero's next adventure will involve fewer face-first landings. No promises, though!
